Independent CMS observations and later ATLAS measurements support the discovery. The 2012 paper established a new boson compatible with the Higgs; it did not finish testing every Higgs property.

Coincident observations, several analysis approaches, public data and subsequent detections strongly support the discovery. The confidence attached to the event should not be confused with certainty about every inferred source parameter.

Instrument timing problems and corrected measurements removed the anomaly. This grade applies to the original superluminal interpretation; the later correction is evidence of an effective scientific check.
